Our culture tells us that to be blessed means to have nice things, to live somewhere wonderful, to take fancy vacations, to have thousands of “followers” on social media. But Jesus teaches us that God’s kingdom doesn’t work that way. Jesus says, “Blessed are the poor. Blessed are those who forgive. Blessed are those who make peace.” Let’s get together and try to make sense of Jesus’ teachings and how they can help bring us closer to God and closer to our community.
