Pastor
Pastor Jana Schofield (she/her)
Pastor Jana grew up in Colorado, graduated from California Lutheran University, Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary, and the Graduate Theological Union. She holds a doctorate in ministry from Seattle University.
She has served as a youth minister in Colorado, Ohio, and California, a university campus pastor in California, and as pastor in congregations in California and Washington. She was called to Christ the Servant in May 2023 and is excited to join this community of faith in its mission of worship, learning, service, love, and justice.
She is mom to Tae and spouse to Michael. She loves hiking, reading, cooking, and being with family.

Interim Minister of Children, Youth, and Family
Tiffany Nangle
Tiffany grew up in the Northwest. Tiffany and her family have attended church at CTS since 2015. She served as the Interim Children, Youth and Family Minister for 2024-2025 year. She is excited to serve CTS Children, Youth and Family for another season. Tiffany has worked as a preschool teacher, environmental educator and for a non-profit on the development team. Tiffany is passionate about Children, Youth and Families deepening their community connections through intergenerational opportunities.

Tiffany grew up in the Northwest. Tiffany and her family have attended church at CTS since 2015. She served as the Interim Children, Youth and Family Minister for 2024-2025 year. Elder Care Minister
Claudia Ackerman
Claudia was born in Spokane, Washington and grew up living in funeral homes. She believes that her mortician father’s model of compassion, kindness, and care is what inspired her to pursue the field of Human Services in which she earned a B.A. degree from WWU. After raising her two sons, Claudia began her career as an Advocacy Counselor at Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services where she has facilitated victim support groups for 25 years. In 2022 she was awarded the Medal of Commitment to Community by the Bellingham Police Department.
After completing the Faith Community Health Minister training in 2014, Claudia developed a love and passion for Christ the Servant’s senior servants. She is now anticipating an even deeper connection to these treasured friends as she carries out her calling as Elder Care Minister.
Claudia’s grandchildren are her favorite hobby. She also enjoys playing the piano and walking with her husband Rick, while petting every dog along the way. As long as she’s alive she intends to remain dedicated to her daily goal of personal growth and change.

Rick Lysen
Rick began playing piano at CTS in 1983. He is a graduate of WWU in Bellingham with a BS in Computer Science in 1980. As a 'serial entrepreneur', he has owned multiple businesses in Whatcom County and currently owns a technology company that supports 42 different state Music Educator Associations, providing online tools to organize their annual All State Music events. He and his wife have 2 children and 3 grandchildren. Happily retired, Rick and his wife travel on a regular basis visiting family and friends across the globe.

Director of CTS Servant Singers and Male Chorus
Del VandeKerk
Del is the director of CTS Servant Singers and Male Chorus. He has directed church and community choirs for over 40 years. He received his BA from Dordt University and his Masters in Music Education from Western Washington University. Del taught both choral and instrumental music at the Lynden Christian Schools for 11 years and just recently retired from playing trumpet in the Bellingham Symphony Orchestra. Del’s choral experience includes directing church and community choirs, singing in the Bellingham Festival of Music Chorus and Bellingham Chamber Choir as well as participating in a variety of local smaller groups.

Laura Loween
Laura has been a member of Christ the Servant since birth. She grew up singing in the kid's choir and later joined the praise team. Laura went to Pacific Lutheran University, where she studied elementary education and music. Laura directs the contemporary worship band, Worship team once a month. She loves singing and spending time with her family.

Office Administrator
Kay Hageman
Kay began her work as part time Office Administrator in August 2023 following many years as a public school educator. When she is not at CTS, she enjoys walks, reading, and teaching piano lessons. In summer she can be spotted eagle watching from her kayak on the calm waters around the San Juan Islands. Kay and her husband raised their daughters at CTS, and are grateful to be a part of such a caring and active church community.
