Highlights at Christ the Servant this week
Capital Appeal Launched
What a great event we had last Sunday! People came, people painted, and the people had fun getting their hands dirty! Many thanks to everyone who participated and many, many thanks to those happy helpers. If you missed out on last week’s activities, check out the fun on the slide show in the narthex this Sunday. You can also pick up an informational booklet and a Devotional booklet in the narthex. If you would like to view these online, here are links to the Capital Appeal Informational Booklet, Devotional Booklet and Pledge Card. Many thanks to all!
Adult Forum this Sunday
Dr. Jim Bochsler will be completing his two week discussion regarding health and wholeness among adolescents. What lessons have we been learning about Adolescent Health at this moment in time. What can we as a faith community be doing to foster wholeness among Youth and Families. Come to listen and let your voices be part of the conversation! This week, the adult forum will return to the Old Sanctuary.

A person to Set up/Clean up Communion
Lent Begins February 22nd
This week we step into Lent on ASH WEDNESDAY. The service at 7:00 p.m. includes Holy Communion, confession and forgiveness, and the ash cross on our foreheads as a reminder of our human frailty and of God’s grace. Prior to the service, at 6:00 p.m., we'll share a soup supper. See the sign up sheet in the Narthex if you’d like to bring something. The Soup Suppers will continue during the season of Lent followed by the Lenten midweek service at 7:00 pm. . This year we’ll be introducing a grand new Lenten liturgy written by our own Bonnie Drewes! Lessons and homilies will follow God’s work through the ministry of Elijah. Music will lead us to shared prayers and an invitation to Prayer around the Cross.
Lent is a great time to remember God’s promises, remember God’s commitments, and be renewed in faith, hope, and life. We hope that you will invite a friend to the CTS supper and worship during the season of Lent . Nursery will be available for all of the midweek Lenten services.
Servers Needed for Ash Wednesday
Would you like to help out for the Ash Wednesday worship service? If you would like to serve send Christy an email in the church Office. There will also be a sign up sheet in the narthex. Click here to see where help is needed.

- Name of ministry, program, or cause the funds will support.
- A brief paragraph describing how the funds will be spent and how this supports the mission of Christ the Servant.
- Contact person (name, phone, and e-mail) in case there are questions about the request.

A Word of Thanks
Many thanks to all of the angels who helped me and my friend Lucky, following my recent surgery. I feel so blessed to be a part of this family we call Christ the Servant.
Now Accepting Contributions for the CTS Gift to Interfaith Auction
“A Tour of Olympic National Park” is the theme for Christ the Servant’s congregational gift to Interfaith Coalition’s auction this spring. Our “Olympic Park Tour” features three nights of lodging for two people at any of the Park’s lodges. An additional donation from Aramark, the lodging management company, provides extra value that can be used for a fourth night of lodging or meals in the dining halls. Our auction bidder will enjoy a scenic driving tour and adventures from Lake Crescent to Kalaloch, and onto Lake Quinault, with the possibility of a side trip to Sol Duc Hot Springs.
The spring auction is Interfaith Coalition’s primary fund-raiser and supports housing programs for homeless families and health care for all in need. Christ the Servant Lutheran Church is a founding member of Interfaith and has long supported the fund-raiser. Generous CTS congregational gifts have been popular auction items in recent years.
CTS members who wish to contribute to the “Tour of Olympic National Park” are asked to make checks payable to CTS and note “Interfaith Auction” in the memo line. We need to raise $500 to purchase our gift certificate. Contributions may be dropped off or mailed to the church office, or put in the offering basket on Sunday. The Community Ministries Team respectfully requests your contribution by Sunday, March 4.

Norwegian Youth Orchestra to tour Western Washington March 30-April 8, 2012.
The Ung Symfoni from Bergen, Norway, is planning a tour of Western Washington March 30 through April 8, 2012.
The 75 member full symphonic orchestra whose members? average age is 20 years, was founded in 1997 and toured Western Washington in 2004. They are very excited to be returning!
They tour somewhere outside of Norway each year, and past tours, in addition to Western Washington, have been in Belgium, Czech Republic, Russia, Italy, and Japan.
The orchestra is a melting pot of young musicians from conservatories, music schools, secondary schools, and bands, and is directed by Kjell Seim, one of the most sought-after conductors in Norway. The majority of the members come from Bergen, but the orchestra has members from all over southern Norway. They perform extensively in Bergen as well as in surrounding areas. Guest soloist on this tour will be violinist Eldbjorg Hemsing, regarded as one of Norway's most promising young artists, captivating audiences and critics alike with her performances and prompting the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra to describe her as being "a sensational newcomer in Norwegian music life!" Eldbjorg is a versatile musician, equally at home performing folk music on the Hardanger Fiddle as well as classical music on her Guadagnini violin from 1754 kindly on loan from the Dextra Musica Foundation. She will be playing both instruments on this tour.
Their concert schedule is as follows:
- March 30 - Ferndale High School in Ferndale, 7:30.
- April 2 - Western Washington University in Bellingham, 7:30.
- April 3 12:00 noon at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma and
