PARISH NURSES OFFER YOU:

1.  Blood pressure screening and counseling.
Our health team offers screening the third Sunday of every month after the first worship service, and prior to theLunch-timers monthly potluck.

2. Home and hospital visits. At your request, before, during and after your hospital stay. We will help you understand your health care options, medication, and walk with you during times when difficult decisions need to be made. If you are on Medicare, we offer Stepping Stones assistance. This involves a hospital visit, a home visit, and follow-up calls to prevent problems, so that readmission to the hospital is prevented.

3. Personal health counseling for individuals or with your family. Make an appointment to talk about your health. We are interested in helping you to identify unhealthy choices, and develop new plans that promote health and happiness. We can help you to create realistic goals and guide you to appropriate resources to help you achieve these goals.

4. Care Team Ministry is coordinated by the Parish Nurses.  This includes prayer shawl ministry, comfort basket ministry with visitation, and a food care team who will make meals for members when requested.  Call us when you have needs, or if you would like to be part of this ministry.

 5. Spiritual care and healing prayer.  Parish nurses understand the connection between faith and health. We are professional Christian nurses with special training to offer wholistic care of the body, mind and spirit. We will work with you to plan an individual healing prayer service before surgery or any crisis you are facing. Spiritual care involves listening, being present, praying, and guiding. These are key components of our health ministry.  With your permission, we make referrals to our resources at CTS: Visitation Minister, our Pastor, and to our in- house counselor from Lutheran Counseling Network.

6.  Community health classes and health screenings at a discount.  Our PN program is connected and supported by PeaceHealthSt. Joseph  Medical Center. Our membership comes with special benefits! CTS members can sign up for health classes from LifeQuest for a reduced price. Call them at 738-6720.  They offer numerous health education classes as well as helpful support groups.

7.  Hearing Loss Association of Whatcom County.  We support the mission of this group: to open the world of communication to people with hearing loss by providing information, education, support and advocacy.  Meets the 3rd Saturday of the month here at CTS at 9:30 am.

We look forward to serving you in our Parish Nurse ministry!
Call the CTS office at 733-1277 and request that a Parish Nurse call you (be sure to leave your name and number), or call us directly.
